Many of our purchasers at Priors Orchard in Southbourne chose to move to a smaller home when they retired but, after many months of searching for his dream home, Mr Leslie Peacock made the decision to upsize in retirement.
I’d read about retiring to a house rather than a flat before, and even at my age, it seems it’s not that uncommon. I just wanted more independence and a newly built home would mean I wouldn’t have to do anything to it.
Leslie’s search took in several new developments across a wide area but either the location was not quite right or part exchange arrangements weren’t acceptable. Finally he put his apartment on the market and to his surprise, it sold to the first person who visited. So the search for his new home was stepped up. On the way to a viewing appointment, he spotted Priors Orchard in Southbourne and called in to look around.
I went on to my appointment but what stuck in my mind was that the houses at Priors Orchard were more open, not too close to each other. Afterwards I compared the two schemes and I liked Priors Orchard better. What appealed was the quality of finish and the fact that everything was included, the appliances, the landscaping and even the flooring. It was all in, so you knew the price and everything was here before you move in. All the choices had been made but there’s nothing I would have changed, absolutely nothing. I knew I could definitely live here. The sales advisor, Caroline, was absolutely brilliant. She spoke to my estate agents and handled everything very well, keeping people informed and reassured as the sales process was followed.
Leslie, who had a long and varied career in civil service including project management and an international development partnership, had watched a YouTube video about Priors Orchard which included a tour of the Duncton house type which he eventually settled on.
All three bedrooms are doubles and the largest is 20ft, said Leslie. One of the attractions is the big kitchen which has partly glazed double doors into the lounge so it works whether I want to keep the rooms separate or open them through when my friends come round.
More than 40% of the homes at Priors Orchard have already been sold and the new community is taking shape. The latest three bedroom homes with garage are now available from £395,950 and will soon be ready for new owners to move in to. The Government’s Help to Buy scheme is also available at Priors Orchard.
The sales office and view home are open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 4.00 pm or contact our selling agent, Simply New Homes at Henry Adams, on 01243 521833 or at Simply New Homes.
Leslie added,
Everything is just so well thought out here and I even have a garage. The only thing is that having moved from a flat to a house with a garden, now I need to get a lawnmower!
