Seaward Properties has been consulting with the community of New Alresford since 2014 to bring together a masterplan for Sun Lane to help deliver up to 320 new homes required as part of the Local Plan. We have now submitted an outline planning application to the City Council which includes 16.8 hectares of open space and new, modern employment premises.
After three years of consultation it has been possible to include a number of community suggestions with the masterplan, in particular the appearance and potential uses of the open space.
Seaward’s Land & Planning Director, Steve Culpitt, explains :
“Throughout this process we have been committed to supporting the aspirations of New Alresford Town Council and the local community for the town on this site wherever practicable including cut grass walking and cycling trails and wildflower and long grass meadows. A Park and Stride will be introduced to the south of the open space and we are in discussion regarding the safeguarding of land for a community building adjacent to the Park and Stride.”
Seaward has also taken the opportunity to redesign the A31 junction which can now accommodate all east and west movements to and from the site and allow vehicles to travel straight to this junction towards the M3, Winchester or Alton. Land has also been provided for the improvement of Sun Lane to reduce speed and allow for the expansion of the Sun Lane schools.
Winchester City Council will now formally consult on the masterplan, with a final decision on the outline application expected in Autumn 2017.
